I have only been working with PowToon for a couple of days, and I have certainly not mastered the process. I want to show you a very well made PowToon video. Note: When you buy a more professional package than the free one, you have greater control and can add voice recordings, your own music, your own images, etc. Here is a more professional PowToon video:
Notice how they have dragged the characters in very close. [Note to Self: Do that next time you make one of these deals.] The transitions are also very smooth in the above video. Practice would help us get better at that, too.
I am very excited about this new little package for teachers and for other people who make presentations, but here is the part that almost everyone that is blogging should note: The above video is very well done, but the message is of vital significance. I often write about the importance of increasing your Search Engine Optimization or your SEO. Blogging is an excellent way to do that, and it has definitely helped me. But as I said in the previous post, people are changing. The students in classrooms are affected by the abundance of technological entertainment available to them, but the same is true of adults, who are spending more and more time on YourTube, Vimeo, etc. If we want to market to people in the 21st Century, we have to go where they are–and the truth is that many are on YouTube, and they prefer that their data come to them in segments of about 3 minutes in length. The world has changed, and if we want to reach the world, we must change our approaches, too.
